Andy Murray was born to fish.

His grandfather was a ghillie and he can remember casting a fly rod long before going to school.

For twenty five years he travelled the world for House of Hardy, demonstrating his remarkable casting techniques and fishing skills.

Passionate about fly fishing he guides fishing parties in search of salmon, trout and steelhead.

About Andy Murray

Andy has worked for the famous House of Hardy, which started life in Alnwick in Northumberland in 1872, and as their chief casting instructor and demonstrator, his input into the design of rods, reels and lines has been enormous.

His passion for catching salmon has taken him to Russia, Norway, Canada, America, Europe and Japan and his Spey casting is a joy to see!

He has given talks to the New York Fly Fishing Club, is a proud honorary member of the famous Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club of San Francisco, has appeared on various BBC, Canadian and American television programmes and in 2003 received the Arthur Oglesby Lifetime Achievement Award for services to the sport of fly fishing.

Andy is a certified FFF (Federation of Fly Fishers) casting instructor with both single and double handed rods.

Andy was Hardy's last professional casting instructor at the famous 61 Pall Mall Hardy shop, from where he ran the London School of Casting. He took over this prestigious role from the late Johnny Logan and his predecessor Capt Tommy Edwards.

Andy has now taken a lifestyle change and is working as a gilllie on the River Tweed as well as taking a consultancy with G Loomis. This affords him the time to indulge in his two favourite activities, teaching and, of course, fishing!
